Instant WordPress is designed to be portable so it will never create an entry in the Start menu. You just unzip it and run WordPress from where you want, even a USB key.

Sometimes the Windows Firewall or anti-virus products will interfere with the web server inside Instant WordPress starting up. This may explain the users problem. I should point out that Instant WordPress has been downloaded over 50,000 times (as of June 2012) and is used by thousands of students, hobbyists, professional designers and trainers.
